Share Hope is a grassroots fundraising effort to “pay it forward” by increasing PAL awareness, adding new PAL meetings in communities without PAL as well as supporting existing PAL meetings.

Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) is a nonprofit organization providing free resources to families of adults struggling with substance use disorder.

The CDC reported 104 ,288 overdose deaths for the 12 months ending September 2021. Today, in our country, more die of overdoses than car crashes annually. The unique relationship of parents and children creates a complicated problem for parents who many times are not responding in a healthy way to assist their loved one who has an addiction.

Families of the addicted are often collateral damage, sacrificing their health, their finances, and their relationships in a heart-wrenching effort to save their addicted loved one. PAL is the only organization in the country we are aware of that provides free weekly meetings led by trained parent facilitators, where families of adult alcoholics and addicts learn proven ways to help their loved one recover from addiction by focusing on their own education and growth.

A team of researchers Northern Arizona University has conducted a series of studies on PAL and its effectiveness over the past three years. PAL meetings are open to all sober family members and friends who are 18 years and older, including spouses who feel they must parent their addicted partner. We warmly welcome those of any faith or background who are seeking help with this issue; however, all our board and volunteer facilitators must sign a Christian statement of faith and agree to abide by our guiding principles.

PAL began as a group led by a licensed independent substance abuse counselor in 2006 and formed as a nonprofit in 2015. In just seven years, there are already meetings in 40 states, with the target of being in all 50 states in the coming year.
